What is a HUsB?

    A HUsB, or Historically Underutilized small Business, may be:

  • a minority- or woman- owned business

  • a veteran- or disabled veteran- owned business

  • any other underutilized or disadvantaged small business

Who is a HUsB Coordinator?

    HUsB Coordinators are a group of volunteers from Central Indiana area corporations and government organizations that have sourcing, procurement and/or other supplier development responsibilities. The group works to:

  • maximize efforts to help HUsB development
  • make a difference in the business world
  • improve the diversity of the firm’s suppliers
  • network with other corporate diversity and small business managers

 What is HUsB Day?

            HUsB Day is an annual educational and networking event conducted by the HUsB Coordinators. Small business owners and/or representatives from their companies are invited to:

  • participate in educational workshops and seminars conducted by industry experts

  • attend the keynote address from a prominent figure in the business community

  • participate in the business card exchange networking event

 Why participate?

            Participation is beneficial to HUsBs as well as HUsB Coordinators. HUsBs will benefit from:

  • Attending events that provide information valuable to conducting business with large corporations and government agencies
  • Meeting HUsB Coordinators’ corporate representatives, buyers and contracting officers
  • Networking with other small business owners

            HUsB Coordinators benefit by meeting prospective suppliers and potentially expanding the diversity of their suppliers. They will also network with other HUsB Coordinators in order to:

  • meet minority business representatives
  • potentially expand the diversity of their suppliers
  • discuss business relationships with other corporations
  • compare and exchange best business practices
  • keep abreast of small business activities in Central Indiana
  • learn about new government regulations

      If you are with an area corporation or government organization and have responsibilities in sourcing, procurement, and/or other supplier development activities, please feel free to contact any of the individuals listed on the contact page.
